Event Planner and El Presidente

Winter in Ithaca is in full swing, and we've been told not to expect the cold to let up for another couple of months. So to keep ourselves from freezing outside in the cold, we keep ourselves busy inside with friends! Justin and I have become pretty involved within the Johnson School community- I'm one of the two social chairs of the Joint Ventures (aka the "wives" club), Justin is the president of both the Johnson Christian Fellowship and the Texas Club (shout out), and we are both on teams in the Thursday night bowling league. Get excited...my team even got shirts!

We plan weekly events for the members of Joint Ventures that usually take place on Wednesday nights. We do all kinds of things- happy hours, pot lucks, Pilates, weekend brunches, bunko nights and more! Next week we're going to a local restaurant called waffle frolic, where they build your waffle any way you want it! I've had a lot of fun working with the entire Joint Ventures Board to make our social events fun this semester.

Here's a few of us enjoying desserts at this fabulous little place in the Commons called Madeline's. More pictures from JV events in blogs to come!

Here's about half of my bowling team last Thursday. We got our shirts in this week, so I'll have to post a more "unified" team picture later. Only 4 people get to bowl at a time, so we switch off each week because we have 9 team members...bowling is a very popular Spring semester event.

Here's Justin's bowling team...they're a little more serious about bowling and less about socializing. This is most evident in the fact that Justin's team is in 1st place out of the 16 teams. My team is 11th...which only means to us that we don't stink the most! Very exciting!

We had the Johnson Christian Fellowship over to our house to watch the Superbowl on Sunday. Let's just say...we had a full house. Justin even fired up the grill on the patio after spending the afternoon shoveling a pathway through the snow to get to the grill. Too bad half our guests were vegetarians...so come on over if you'd like a bratwurst, we have lots of leftovers!

Some of the guys standing around the food during the half-time show.

So overall, we keep ourselves pretty busy and have made some really fun friends here. We've actually found ourselves busier during the week and counting on our weekends for downtime. I'll post more pictures of everyday life later...and I promise, one will be of us girls in our bowling shirts! Stay warm my friends!
