Welcome to Ithaca

We had our first visitors to Ithaca! My parents arrived in upstate NY last Sunday evening for a week of northeast fun. Here's my dad in the Syracuse Airport...I'm sure he was full of anticipation for his first experience in Ithaca.

My parents arrived in Ithaca right in time for dinner after renting their car and driving in from Syracuse. We took them to a new place, wait, everywhere is a new place....called the Boatyard grill, and it was actually very good! Here's a picture of the whole group!

On Monday, my brother and my dad made a day trip to the city...it's not called New York City here, simply, the city. They went to the Yankees/Red Sox game and had a great time.

One evening, we grilled out kabobs on the patio. Bella of course helped.

Here's a picture of my parents on the Cornell campus. I thought it was a great picture of them.

On the day before everyone left to go back to Texas, we went hiking at one of the state parks that's just about 20 minutes from town. We hiked about a mile to get to a waterfall that was beautiful. Here's an action shot of the hiking.

And here's a picture of the whole family (minus Justin who couldn't come b/c he was at school) in front of the waterfall. Evidently, in the spring when the snow is melting, the entire area that we're standing on is underwater and you can only see the falls from the trail around the top. It may not look like it in this picture, but this waterfall is supposedly 3 stories higher than Niagra falls. I thought it was quite beautiful!

I would have loved for my family to stay in town longer, but I guess everyone has to get back to the real world at some point. We had a lot of fun and can't wait for them, or anyone to come back to visit!
